George Clooney Reflects on His Relationship with Donald Trump

In a recent conversation, George Clooney, who’s now 64, shared his thoughts on how political fame has transformed Donald Trump.

Clooney used to have a friendly rapport with Republican figures, including Trump himself. “I knew him very well,” he noted, recalling times when Trump would call him for support—once even helping him visit a surgeon for hip issues. They met frequently at various clubs and restaurants.

“He was quite the go-getter, or at least he used to be,” Clooney remarked. “Everything has changed since then.”

Despite Clooney’s critical views of Trump today, the president seems to maintain a level of popularity among some Hollywood stars during his second term. For instance, Kid Rock recently stated on “Fox & Friends Weekend” that there’s a sense of renewal in the country, describing it as a “rebirth.”

“There’s this incredible feeling… you know, people say America is back,” he explained. Kid Rock also observed that many in Hollywood have become more comfortable with Trump since his re-election in 2024. “After tiptoeing around for a while, they’re finally diving in. It’s nice to have them on board,” he joked.

In past events, like President Trump’s inauguration, Carrie Underwood performed, expressing her pride in being part of such a historic moment, saying, “I love this country.” Other stars, including Jason Aldean, have also shown their support for Trump at various public appearances.

As part of his efforts to strengthen ties with Hollywood, Trump recently appointed Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as special ambassadors. “I am honored to announce their appointments to promote business in Hollywood,” he stated on his Truth Social platform. He emphasized the need to revitalize Hollywood and hinted at a potential revival, declaring it would be “the Golden Age of Hollywood again, like the United States itself!”
