Popular lawyer reportedly murdered by brother sought his eviction

A well-loved lawyer and community advocate, Krikor Kuyoumcan, 33, was allegedly killed by his brother over the weekend. According to sources, he had been trying to get his brother removed from their family home.

The tragic incident occurred in their family’s $1.3 million home on Saturday, just after Christmas.

Police were called to the 9000 block of Noble Avenue around 1:45 p.m. after hearing gunfire and discovered Kuyoumcan deceased at the scene.

His younger brother, 30-year-old Alexander Kuyoumjian, was taken into custody shortly after.

Reports indicate that Alexander had a longstanding resentment against Krikor, stemming from his eviction from the house.

Kuyoumcan was dedicated to building that home himself, sometimes even living on-site in a tent or car while balancing law school and renovations.

The house was more than just a structure; it hosted numerous gatherings and featured a small orchard with 35 unique fruit trees, all planted by Kuyoumcan.

The news of his death has left the community in shock, particularly at the prestigious early childhood education center where he volunteered as a debate coach.

For 14 years, Kuyoumcan coached fifth and sixth graders in debate each Thursday night, engaging not just with the children but also with their fathers through basketball games.

Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier expressed that Kuyoumcan was cherished in the community, noting, “He was a special person, and that’s what makes this so shocking.” Frazier’s children also attended the same school.

“He was incredible and the kids adored him. He had this special way of connecting with them,” Frazier added.

Although many notable figures from the entertainment world sent their kids to the school, Kuyoumcan never boasted about his contributions, instead focusing on his students.

“He was just a beautiful human,” Frazier said, stressing how loved he was. Frazier’s wife had worked with Kuyoumcan at his law firm.

As the community tries to come to terms with the loss, details surrounding the incident remain unclear.

“He was a great man, always loving and never afraid,” Frazier reflected, describing him as a gentle soul.
