Body Found in Search for Missing San Antonio Teen
The sheriff leading the investigation into the disappearance of a San Antonio teenager stated on Wednesday that he “strongly” suspects that a body discovered in a field near a firearm belongs to Camila Mendoza Olmos, who went missing on Christmas Eve.
The 19-year-old was last seen that morning, only a couple of blocks from her home.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar shared his thoughts in a Facebook Live session, saying, “It’s too early to confirm if the body we found is hers, or what caused the death, but I have a strong feeling it was her.” He described the situation as “heartbreaking.”
Salazar previously mentioned that there was no evidence of foul play and indicated that the body might have been there for several days. In his Wednesday remarks, he encouraged the community to check on relatives, particularly those who may be struggling.
It has been reported that Olmos had a background of suicidal thoughts and depression.
Salazar expressed, “It’s been a heartbreaking week,” highlighting that Olmos was one of three teenagers reported missing in just a week in the county. A 14-year-old, Sophia Peters Kobos, was safely recovered, while 17-year-old Angelique Johnson remains unaccounted for since Christmas.
Additionally, a 55-year-old man, James Nunnally, also went missing on Christmas Day during a road trip to Mississippi. The last contact he had with family was around 10 a.m., stating he was 280 miles outside of Dallas.
