Brady Cook receiving another opportunity to start in the Jets' final game of the season

Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Confirms Brady Cook Will Start Against Buffalo

On Wednesday, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced that undrafted rookie quarterback Brady Cook will remain the starter for Sunday’s matchup against the Bills.

Glenn emphasized that Cook, who has recorded one touchdown and seven interceptions over three games, “gives us the best chance to win.” This decision comes despite veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor being healthy and rejoining the team after a personal absence.

When asked if he thought Cook could evolve into a reliable backup by 2026, Glenn didn’t commit to a definitive answer. “I’d like to make that judgment at the end of the season. He has one more game to play, so we’ll see how he performs,” he stated.

On his part, Cook expressed gratitude for the opportunity to start once again, saying he feels thankful for the chance to showcase his skills.

As the team gears up for their final game of the year, Cook mentioned, “We’re heading to Buffalo, excited to put together a solid performance. I’ve learned a lot about being a quarterback and a leader on this team, but at the end of the day, it’s still football.” He continued with a nostalgic reflection, “This is a game we’ve played all our lives. It’s challenging and imperfect, but we genuinely love it. The goal this week is to have fun.”

He added, “Let’s enjoy the game, execute well, and see what we can accomplish in our last match.”

Notably absent from practice on Wednesday was running back Breece Hall, who last week rushed for 107 yards, marking his first time crossing the 1,000-yard threshold. He slightly injured his knee during the game; it wouldn’t be surprising if he sat out now that he’s achieved that milestone.

Glenn commented on Hall’s condition, noting, “It’s just a little bang on his knee.” He reassured reporters that updates on Hall’s playing status would come later in the week.

Other players absent included tight end Mason Taylor, offensive lineman Xavier Newman, running back Isaiah Davis (concussion), cornerback Quantez Stigers, defensive end Michael Clemons, and guard Joe Tippman.

Regarding job security, Glenn was questioned about his mindset for the concluding game of the season as the team’s record stands at 3-13. He simply replied, “I’m focused on how we can beat the Bills. That’s all I’m thinking about.”
