Synovus and Pinnacle Merge

Columbus-based Synovus Financial is merging with Nashville’s Pinnacle Financial Partners, resulting in the new holding company’s headquarters being located in Atlanta.

As 2023 began, Synovus completed this significant merger, aligning with a rival to establish one of the largest regional banks in the United States. The merger took place on Thursday, and according to official documentation submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the total value of the transaction was approximately $8.6 billion.

Founded over a century ago from a textile mill in Columbus, Synovus continues to grow. The CEO of Synovus, Kevin Blair, will also assume the role of CEO for the newly formed bank. It’s an interesting landscape in the banking sector, particularly with the economic climate shifting so continually.
