Nebraska players request fans to refrain from rushing the court following victory over Michigan State

Nebraska Basketball Team’s Unusual Request

The Nebraska men’s basketball team recently made a peculiar appeal to its fans during a remarkable winning streak: “Please stay in your seat.” This call for restraint came after their thrilling 58-56 victory over No. 9 Michigan State, marking a flawless start to the season at 14-0. Yet, as the final buzzer rang, fans couldn’t help but rush the court to celebrate.

This win pushed Nebraska’s streak to 18 consecutive victories, the longest unbeaten run in the nation. The players openly appreciated their fans’ enthusiasm but expressed a desire for them to refrain from flooding the court in the future.

“If you’re No. 13 at home against No. 9, you really should win that game,” said Nebraska forward Rienku Mast. He acknowledged the excitement of the crowd but emphasized their team’s commitment to consistently winning games of this caliber. “We have to keep proving that this isn’t just a fluke,” he added, noting that maintaining focus is crucial as they forge ahead.

Teammate Jamalke Lawrence echoed this sentiment. “Let’s win the game, guys. No more courtroom storms, please,” he urged, highlighting the importance of keeping the celebration under control.

Interestingly, Spartans head coach Tom Izzo welcomed the fans’ exuberance. He remarked, “I really loved it. It doesn’t happen often at our place, and it shouldn’t, but it should here. It’s a refreshing experience that comes with building a strong program.”

Izzo was impressed by the excitement and felt it added to the atmosphere of the game, a sign of a bright future for both teams.
