Travis Kelce Reaches Milestone in NFL History
If Sunday turns out to be Travis Kelce’s last game in the NFL, he definitely left his mark on the sport. The Kansas City Chiefs fell short against the Las Vegas Raiders, losing 14-12, but Kelce achieved a significant personal milestone.
At 36 years old, he surpassed the 13,000 receiving yard mark, becoming only the third tight end in NFL history to do so, joining legends Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten.
It’s worth noting that Kelce had considered retirement last year, possibly swayed by the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XIX. But, he decided to return, leaving many curious about his plans for 2026. The Chiefs will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014, which adds an interesting twist to his situation.
After the game, his thoughts on retirement remained pretty much the same—he didn’t divulge anything definitive. However, teammate Chris Jones expressed confidence that Kelce “will be back next year,” saying, “I believe my dog will come back.”
Kelce has spent his entire 13-year career with the Chiefs, securing three Super Bowl championships and playing in two more. If he does decide to retire, one can certainly expect to see him enshrined in Canton someday.
In terms of accolades, he will close out his career as a seven-time All-Pro, boasting 11 Pro Bowl selections, totaling 1,080 receptions, 13,002 receiving yards, and 84 touchdowns.
