Massive Crackdown in Minnesota Leads to Over 1,000 Arrests

Federal authorities have recently apprehended more than 1,000 individuals in Minnesota, including murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and gang members. This response comes as part of a significant effort tied to an ongoing, serious fraud investigation in the state.

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, indicated to media that the agency swiftly deployed law enforcement to Minnesota last week, resulting in over 1,000 arrests. She mentioned the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing the types of crimes involved.

One notable arrestee is Liban Ali Osman, a 43-year-old Somali man previously convicted of robbery in Columbus, Ohio. He was sentenced to three years in prison, with his final dismissal order issued in 2011.

Another individual, Vanaryuto Keomany, a 59-year-old illegal immigrant from Laos, was convicted of multiple sexual assault charges in Columbus. He had been sentenced to seven years and was under a final exclusion order since 2009.

Federal agents arrested Pol Mua, a 50-year-old Lao man, who has convictions in California for serious bodily harm and child sexual abuse. Another suspect, Shin Razmicham, 52, was found guilty of criminal sexual conduct in Minnesota and had been facing an exclusion order since 2004.

Additionally, Thu Van, 42, from Laos, who faced similar charges involving a child, had been under a removal order since 2006. Somvan Prachansiri, aged 63, also from Laos, was arrested for various sexual conduct crimes and had been on release since 2001.

Javier Brumaro Turbiartes, a 49-year-old from Mexico, was apprehended for previously soliciting sexual acts from minors. Another individual, Joel Cuautl Ocelotl, aged 51, also an illegal immigrant from Mexico, had past convictions for assaults and impaired driving.

Van De La Sein, a 47-year-old from Burma, was arrested on charges related to sexual conduct using force in Minnesota. A 26-year-old from Ecuador, Angel Edwin Quiquintuna Capuz, faced a series of serious charges, including robbery and DUI, before being taken into custody.

The Department of Homeland Security has reportedly deployed around 2,000 federal agents in this ongoing operation, focusing primarily on the Twin Cities area, which is anticipated to last 30 days. McLaughlin noted that while their focus is on law enforcement, ensuring officer safety remains a priority.

Recently, Minnesota has been under scrutiny following the discovery of significant fraud cases, prompting several arrests and legal actions. The DHS’s initiative aims to effectively combat the fraud issues impacting the area, which came to public attention through an independent journalist’s investigation into local day care operations.
