Failed Luxury Handbag Heist Ends with Arrests

Two unsuccessful robbers managed to sneak into a high-end store and make off with luxury handbags worth $100,000, only to be caught by heavily armed police, all of which was recorded on surveillance footage.

The attempted robbery was shared on Instagram, showcasing the dramatic events as the thieves, trying to escape with several handbags, were ambushed by police and a K-9 unit.

Identified as Richard Bernard Spencer, 40, from Los Angeles, and Marcellus Ronell Shelby, 30, from Hollywood, the duo was seen wearing hoodies climbing the building in the early hours of Monday. Once they entered the store, footage showed them eagerly grabbing every designer bag they could find.

However, a security guard had already alerted authorities, prompting swift action from the Irvine Police Department.

The police arrived, heavily armed and even deploying drones overhead to locate the suspects. In a tense moment captured on camera, the criminals attempted to open an exit door but quickly slammed it shut, opting instead to flee up a staircase.

When the police finally apprehended them, seven officers and a K-9 unit ordered the men to the ground. Body camera footage captured the aftermath as the pair was handcuffed and escorted to police vehicles.

Fortunately, all the handbags, valued at a total of $100,000, were recovered and returned to the store.

The robbery attempt has led to charges of robbery, grand larceny, conspiracy, criminal damage to property, and resisting arrest for both suspects.
