Trump Announces Oil Transfer from Venezuela

President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela will be transferring between 30 million and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States. This follows a recent U.S. military operation that resulted in the capture of Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan leader.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I am pleased to announce that the Interim Authorities in Venezuela will be turning over between 30 and 50 MILLION Barrels of High Quality, Sanctioned Oil, to the United States of America. This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America.” He emphasized that the funds will be utilized for the benefit of both Venezuelan and American people. He instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement this plan immediately, mentioning that the oil would be transported to unloading docks in the U.S.

Venezuela holds around 17% of the world’s oil reserves, totaling roughly 303 billion barrels of crude oil. Currently, the U.S. consumes about 13.4 million barrels of crude oil daily.

Trump’s statement came shortly after he remarked on the military operation concerning Venezuela. Just a day earlier, he dismissed comparisons to the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, asserting that the objectives of the two missions were fundamentally different.

He noted, “The difference between Iraq and this is that [former President George W. Bush] didn’t keep the oil. We’re going to keep the oil.”

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
