Lululemon theft caught on surveillance footage in Pennsylvania

Shoplifting Incident at Pennsylvania Lululemon Store

On Tuesday, authorities in Pennsylvania disclosed that surveillance footage captured a brazen break-in at a Lululemon store, where two masked individuals used sledgehammers to smash their way inside.

According to Lower Merion Police, reported by local channels, the suspects were seen seizing large amounts of merchandise during the incident before escaping in a U-Haul truck.

This event took place shortly before 2 a.m. at the Ardmore Shopping Center, and investigators suspect that more than $5,000 worth of items were taken.

In the video released by the police, the masked suspects, clad entirely in black, can be seen attacking the storefront with a sledgehammer, quickly entering and targeting winter coats and men’s shirts.

The suspects appeared to clear out an entire shelf filled with down jackets and sweatshirts before exiting. Footage shows them unloading the stolen goods only to return for more.

Overall, the robbery lasted about five minutes. Local reports indicated that the suspects took off after loading the stolen items into the back of a U-Haul parked nearby.

Despite the chaos, by the afternoon, the store had reopened, although the front door remained damaged, accompanied by a large banner obstructing the entrance.

This wasn’t the first instance of a Lululemon store being hit, as an employee noted. “My bartender and I came out to see what was happening—it was unsettling to witness this happening right across from us,” shared Gina Picciano, General Manager of Laura’s Garden.

Interestingly, a theft last year took place during store hours, highlighting a disturbing trend. “It happens in broad daylight when a group suddenly appears, arms full of merchandise,” Picciano continued. “It’s wild, whether it’s day or night.”

The Lower Merion Police mentioned that delays in alert systems could affect response times and stressed the importance of crime prevention partnerships with local businesses.

“It may take a while to get alerts about incidents at Lululemon, as their operations center processes video and alerts,” Police Chief Andy Bullock noted. “Our goal is to prevent crime and enhance community safety.”

Moreover, an inquiry for more information has been submitted to both Lower Merion Police and Lululemon.
