Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to ICE after shooting: ‘Leave immediately’

Minneapolis Mayor Calls for ICE to Leave Following Fatal Shooting

In light of a tragic shooting involving a Minneapolis woman, Mayor Jacob Frey has urged Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to exit the city.

During a press conference after the incident, Frey expressed strong disapproval, stating, “They’re already trying to interpret this as an act of self-defense. I saw the video myself, and I want to say it directly to you: That was a bull. This was an agent who used his power recklessly and caused someone’s death.”

Frey detailed his administration’s response to the shooting, emphasizing that the first concern was to ensure the woman’s transport to the hospital. His second priority was to have ICE agents removed from the vicinity.

According to the mayor, the presence of federal agents only intensified the chaos at the scene. “There were dozens, if not hundreds, of ICE and federal agents there at the time. Their presence only makes a difficult situation even more problematic, and that situation is of their own making,” he claimed.

In a direct message to ICE, Frey stated, “Get out of Minneapolis. We don’t want you here.”

Frey elaborated that someone had lost their life and emphasized, “It’s your responsibility to walk away. It’s your responsibility to prevent further harm, loss of life, injury.”

He also addressed the Minneapolis community, suggesting that the chaos created by the current administration was a deliberate tactic. “We all know that the challenge of this Trump administration is to create chaos,” he remarked, urging residents to “meet that hate with love.”

Frey made it clear that he would not be provoked by ICE’s actions, noting that they seemed to be seeking a pretext for military intervention. “They want to provoke a military occupation of our city,” he added.

Video evidence revealed ICE agents confronting a woman in a vehicle parked in a manner obstructing the road. When the officer commanded her to exit the car, she appeared to put the car in motion, prompting the officer to fire a shot into the windshield before the vehicle collided with another car.

Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security responded, asserting that an officer, fearing for his life, acted defensively. She claimed the woman who was shot attempted to run over an officer, labeling the act as “domestic terrorism.”

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz echoed Frey’s sentiments, disputing the narrative put forth by McLaughlin. “I saw the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine,” he posted online.

President Donald Trump also spoke on the event, describing the video as “horrifying.” He argued that the woman displayed extreme disorder and resistance, which led to the officer’s defensive actions.

While acknowledging the ongoing investigation, Trump remarked that these incidents occur due to the threats from those on the radical left against law enforcement officers.
