Knicks secure win over Clippers to end four-game losing streak

Knicks Find Their Footing Against Clippers

Ultimately, the Knicks had to set a definitive boundary.

The lackluster performance they displayed for over a week couldn’t persist if they had any hope for the team’s future.

That pivotal moment arrived toward the end of the third quarter.

They finished the quarter strong, scoring the final five points, and began the fourth with an impressive 20-5 run against the Clippers.

Before long, they found themselves ahead by 15 points.

It was like a revived spirit coursed through a team that had been lethargic since the NBA Cup, starting to bear resemblance to the squad that had thrived just a month ago.

On Wednesday night, the Knicks triumphed 123-111 at Madison Square Garden, snapping their four-game losing streak and restoring a sense of order.

After a disappointing performance in a recent blowout against the Pistons, Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby offered Jalen Brunson the support he had previously lacked during the slump.

Towns had a tough time finding his rhythm in the first three quarters, expressing frustration over foul calls, and entered the fourth with a mere 10 points.

However, he was more assertive this time around, racking up 10 points in the final quarter and finishing with 20.

Anunoby also put in a solid effort, shooting 8-of-10 to net another 20 points.

He primarily focused on defending Kawhi Leonard, who ended the game with 25 points but didn’t contribute in the fourth as the Knicks took charge.

Brunson led with a game-high 26 points, but the contribution from his teammates was crucial in breaking the losing streak.

Miles McBride, back in the starting rotation, added 16 points and did a commendable job guarding James Harden.

Harden finished with 23 points, yet only managed two in the fourth.

Off the bench, Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek stepped up, with Clarkson scoring 12 and Kolek dishing out five assists.

Gershon Yabusele also made a notable impact with eight points in 13 minutes.

To be honest, their performance wasn’t stellar for most of the game.

For three quarters, they struggled to contain Harden or Leonard effectively.

There were moments when the ball seemed to stick—a common issue.

Despite winning seven out of their last eight, they faced a challenging nine-game deficit under .500, still grappling with the remnants of a team that started this season as the oldest in NBA history.

But for the Knicks, it didn’t need to be flawless. They merely needed to break free from the discomfort that had been so overwhelming.

For tonight, that’s enough.
