Following a lackluster 8-9 season, the Atlanta Falcons have decided to part ways with head coach Raheem Morris. Though Morris had built a solid reputation in the locker room and managed to finish the season with four consecutive victories, it wasn’t enough to secure his long-term position with the team.
The Falcons are now on the lookout for their fourth head coach in eight years, continuing a playoff drought that has extended for nearly a decade.
Clint Kubiak, Seattle’s offensive coordinator, is currently the frontrunner to take over coaching duties, with DraftKings placing him at 3/1 odds. His first season at the helm of the Seahawks saw them achieve an impressive 14-3 record and seize the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. Kubiak’s leadership brought a record 483 points to the franchise, ranking them third in the league, and he was crucial in improving their offensive yardage as well.
Kubiak is set to interview with the Falcons, while also keeping calendar dates with the Giants, Raiders, and Cardinals.

However, the coaching market also includes other well-known candidates such as Kevin Stefanski, who was recently let go from the Browns after a disappointing 5-12 record. It’s worth noting that he was the NFL Coach of the Year in a previous season, leading the Browns to the playoffs twice, despite recent struggles. His focus on adapting to the team’s talent and prioritizing a strong defensive strategy made him stand out in the coaching landscape.
Stefanski is expected to interview not only with the Falcons but also with the Giants and Titans.
John Harbaugh’s unexpected firing from the Ravens was one of the biggest surprises this week. After nearly two decades with the team, his tenure saw immense success, including a Super Bowl win in 2012. But the Ravens’ failure to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021 has deemed his position uncertain.
Harbaugh is anticipated to start interviews soon as well. The Falcons are also set to meet with Vance Joseph, the Broncos’ defensive coordinator, and Anthony Weaver, defensive coordinator for the Dolphins.
