Ali Larter Reflects on Five Years in Sun Valley, Idaho
Ali Larter finds it hard to believe that it’s been five years since she, along with her family, settled in Sun Valley, Idaho. In a recent chat with Jesse Tyler Ferguson on the podcast “Dinners on Me,” Larter candidly noted the less-than-warm welcome she received from her neighbors when they first arrived.
“They were pretty disrespectful,” she remarked, lightheartedly adding, “If I were to shoot a moose, maybe then they’d say, ‘Oh wow, you’re the big star here.'” However, she acknowledges that the relationship dynamics have gradually developed over time.
Larter and her husband, comedian Hayes MacArthur, made the move to the Northwest primarily for the sake of their children. “We wanted to prioritize our kids,” she explained.
They enjoy spending time with families and kids, often enjoying lively gatherings rather than just adult-only dinners. “Having the house filled with families and kids brings so much joy,” she shared.
Reflecting on the past five years, Larter expressed amazement at how quickly time has flown. “I can’t believe it’s been five years. It’s incredible.” She emphasized that their decision to relocate felt authentic and beneficial for their family’s happiness.
Larter had previously mentioned that during the pandemic, she was one of the first families to head to Idaho when schools in California shifted to online learning. “We thought they’d reopen, but that didn’t happen,” she said, explaining that Idaho schools remained open. They were able to enroll their daughter in kindergarten, a crucial experience for them.
During her initial time in Idaho, Larter connected with wonderful families, enjoying the outdoors and sharing quality moments together. Upon returning to Los Angeles, where she had spent two decades, she realized the pressures that came with life in such a vast city. “There’s just so much expected of you there,” she noted, reflecting on the demands of being an actor.
Ultimately, Larter and her family decided to simplify their lives and focus on what truly mattered: being together.
Currently, Larter is also active in Texas, portraying Angela Norris, Billy Bob Thornton’s ex-wife, in the series “The Landman.”
