Ashley Tisdale Critiques ‘Toxic’ Mom Groups After Feeling Excluded

A former Disney star, Ashley Tisdale, recently shared her thoughts on finding a supportive community among fellow mothers. In her essay, she reflected on her initial feelings of luck when she joined this group, only to later experience feelings reminiscent of high school—specifically, being left out of some activities. Many recognized her from online photos and linked her to a well-known group of moms that includes celebrities like Hilary Duff and Meghan Trainor.

This isn’t the first time Tisdale has spoken candidly online. It seems she’s been unguarded about her experiences, often sharing her perspective on motherhood and societal expectations. The day after publishing her op-ed titled “Farewell to the Toxic Mom Group,” a fellow mother responded in a rather satirical manner on social media, using a fictional headline that poked fun at Tisdale and the dynamics within their circle. Tisdale had become the topic of discussion, partly due to how she expressed her struggles with the motherhood community.

In her discussion, Tisdale mentioned how bonding with other mothers can be, at times, an intricate journey filled with ups and downs. “I think it’s about finding a tribe that really understands what you’re going through, especially during the hormonal shifts after childbirth,” she noted. However, her experience with this particular mom group left her feeling isolated rather than supported, which she had perhaps hoped for initially.

There’s a certain irony—she sought a sense of belonging but found herself feeling more alienated. I suppose it highlights how complicated social dynamics can be, especially in parenting circles. It’s a narrative many can relate to—the desire for connection mixed with the reality of exclusion. An experience that might be frustrating yet somehow not entirely surprising, I think.
