Fetty Wap Released from Federal Prison
Rapper Fetty Wap has officially been released from federal prison, where he was serving a sentence for his involvement in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.
On Thursday, he appeared on “The Shade Room” to express gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support.
He had been moved to home confinement on January 7 and is set for full release from supervised detention on November 8, 2026, according to the Bureau of Prisons, as noted by reports. Fetty Wap received a six-year prison sentence in May 2023.
Back in October 2021, he was arrested in New York City alongside five others linked to a drug trafficking operation. He maintained his innocence at the time but was subsequently released on a $500,000 bail in November 2021. However, his bail was revoked in August 2022 after he allegedly violated the terms of his release during a FaceTime call, which involved a weapon and threats against another person.
In August 2022, he pleaded guilty to charges related to the possession and distribution of over 500 grams of cocaine.
Terms of Release
His recent release comes with stringent conditions, as reported. He must undergo drug testing and needs federal approval to open any new bank accounts. His income and tax records will be monitored by the U.S. Probation Service.
According to reports, the 34-year-old rapper is not allowed to consume alcohol or any intoxicants unless they are prescribed by a licensed doctor. Furthermore, the court could require him to join an outpatient drug treatment program.
In a statement shared on CNN, Fetty Wap said, “I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for their love, prayers, and continued support. It truly means everything to me.” He emphasized his commitment to giving back to the community, particularly by aiding at-risk children and expanding their access to education and essential resources.
He expressed a determination to move forward, saying, “I am committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most.”
Fetty Wap’s spokesperson mentioned that he is focused on family, fatherhood, and music, alongside making a positive contribution to the community. She noted that during his time in prison, he gained clarity on how he wants to create paths to success, especially for vulnerable youth.
