Isaac Mizrahi Recalls Meeting Timothée Chalamet
Isaac Mizrahi shared his excitement about meeting Timothée Chalamet for the first time while filming *Marty Supreme*, describing it as “a huge thrill.” He admitted to feeling a bit nervous, but quickly mentioned that Chalamet was “just like a dream.”
The 64-year-old fashion designer expressed his surprise when the 30-year-old *Dune* actor asked him for a selfie. “It was just crazy,” Mizrahi told Page Six at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards earlier this week, adding, “He’s just a dreamboat.” Mizrahi, who portrayed Gwyneth Paltrow’s publicist in the film, recounted how he got the role in an unexpected way.
“I’ve known Josh Safdie, the film’s co-writer and director, since I was young,” Mizrahi explained. “His family lived below ours, and I used to see him during gatherings when I was little…I’ve known him forever.” In addition to the film, Mizrahi is gearing up for his annual show at Cafe Carlyle, titled “AI Artificial Isaac,” which will run from February 3rd to February 21st.
“This marks my 10th year with the club,” Mizrahi shared, noting that he plans to discuss what aging feels like. “It’s basically nice! It’s very nice. So come on!” However, he also mentioned finding the passage of time quite “heartbreaking,” which is why he doesn’t enjoy celebrating milestones.
“I hate birthdays,” he admitted. “I hate anniversaries. I hate anything that marks the passage of time.” He added some humor about aging, saying that basic movements like going up and down stairs have become a mental exercise for him. “You literally have to think three or four times before you actually do it,” he said.
The event also honored several celebrities, including Rose Byrne, Amy Madigan, and Benicio del Toro, who was recognized along with Safdie for Best Original Screenplay.
