Always Persist: Trump Administration Attacks ISIS Positions in Syria

U.S. Airstrikes Against ISIS in Syria

On Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the Department of the Army conducted airstrikes targeting ISIS locations in Syria.

CENTCOM, which oversees U.S. military operations, issued a statement indicating that around 12:30 p.m. ET, they executed “major attacks against multiple ISIS targets across Syria” in collaboration with partner forces. The post shared on X highlighted the ongoing commitment to combat terrorism in the region.

“Today’s airstrikes were aimed at ISIS as part of our continuing mission to eliminate Islamic terrorism threatening our forces, deter future attacks, and safeguard U.S. and allied personnel in the area. We remain relentless in our pursuit of terrorists who wish to harm America,” CENTCOM noted.

CENTCOM emphasized a strong message: “If you threaten our combatants, we will locate you and hold you accountable, wherever you are, regardless of attempts to escape justice.”

In response, Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth tweeted, “We will never forget and we will never forgive.”

This operation represents the second recent offensive by the U.S. against Islamic extremist groups in Syria.

Under the direction of President Donald Trump, CENTCOM launched Operation Hawkeye on December 19, which targeted over 70 ISIS sites in central Syria. This operation was a direct reaction to an ISIS attack on December 13 that resulted in the deaths of two U.S. service members and one civilian.

The attack took the lives of two Iowa National Guard members, Edgar Brian Torres Tovar, 25, and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, who served as a civilian interpreter in the Middle East.

Reflecting on the situation, President Trump remarked, “This is an ISIS attack on the United States and Syria, occurring in a highly volatile part of Syria that remains unstable.” Additionally, Syrian President Ahmed al-Shalah expressed his anger and frustration over the incident, stating, “There will be very serious retaliation.”

The Department of the Army referred inquiries about CENTCOM’s statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
