Dennis Schroder Suspended After Altercation with Luka Doncic

After a recent game, Dennis Schroder attempted to confront Luka Doncic physically, but instead, the NBA handed him a three-game suspension.

The league announced on Saturday that the Sacramento Kings guard would be sidelined for three games following his actions after Sacramento’s 125-101 defeat against the Lakers. It appears that Doncic was the target of Schroder’s frustration.

According to reports from ESPN, Schroder expressed to Doncic his discontent, suggesting that he couldn’t call Doncic “terrible” on the court and then act indifferent afterward.

The incident reportedly took place about 40 minutes post-game when Schroder approached Doncic in the arena hallway, leading to a confrontation.

While the league has not confirmed the specifics of whom Schroder directed his aggression towards, it was noted that he and Doncic had several exchanges during the match.

In one heated moment, Doncic even teased Schroder regarding a missed contract extension with the Lakers during the 2020-21 season, suggesting he should have signed the deal offered.

At that time, rumors circulated that the Lakers had proposed a four-year, $84 million extension, which Schroder allegedly turned down in favor of exploring free agency.

After a lackluster playoff performance by the Lakers, he ended up signing a one-year contract with the Celtics for a mere $5.9 million.

Schroder has since denied claims that the Lakers made any contract offers, insisting there was no official proposition made.

The suspension for Schroder is set to start with Sunday’s matchup between the Kings and the Rockets, though it remains unclear if he plans to appeal this decision. At 32 years old, he’s now in his 13th season in the league, currently averaging 13 points and 5.7 assists as the Kings’ backup point guard.

Looking ahead, Sacramento will face the Lakers again on Monday, but Schroder will be absent for that game as well.
