Ilhan Omar Critiques Elon Musk Over Immigration Comments
On Monday, Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota lashed out at tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, calling him “one of the stupidest people on the planet” after he claimed that Democrats are intentionally increasing the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. for electoral gain.
Musk expressed on X that this strategy includes providing welfare to undocumented immigrants, and he pointed to Omar as a “clear example” of this trend. In her rebuttal, Omar accused Musk of lacking intelligence and argued that he should not have a voice in American discourse.
“This has been happening for years. Ilhan Omar is the most obvious example. Many Somalis who arrived relatively recently will elect only Somalis to Congress in Minnesota. It’s much more subtle, but it’s just as bad in many other parts of the United States,” Musk stated.
Omar fired back, stating: “You are one of the stupidest people on the planet. My district is literally a majority white district. Your conspiracy theories are ridiculous and have no place in a society that values facts.”
Interestingly, statistics show that while 60% of Omar’s district is white, around 14% of its residents are foreign-born, with most being of Somali descent.
Despite the back-and-forth, Musk remains a significant figure in technology, heading several companies including Tesla. He founded SpaceX, recognized for its achievements in space technology, including successful missions to the International Space Station. Moreover, he purchased Twitter Inc. in April 2022 for $44 billion, renaming it XCorp Inc.
SpaceX is notable as the first private entity to have launched 246 rockets, with 207 achieving successful landings. The company is valued at a staggering $100 billion.
Additionally, Musk is a co-founder of Neuralink, a company focused on developing brain-machine interfaces designed to facilitate communication between the mind and electronic devices, particularly aiding individuals with paralysis.
