Aaron Rodgers’ Season Ends with Steelers

Aaron Rodgers’ time with the Steelers took a disappointing turn on Monday as Pittsburgh was knocked out of the playoffs, coinciding with a tough performance from the quarterback.

The Steelers fell to the Texans with a score of 24-6 in the final wild-card matchup of the 2026 postseason. Now, Rodgers faces uncertainty about whether he has played his last game in the NFL.

Throughout the match at Acresure Stadium, he struggled under relentless pressure, completing 17 passes for 146 yards without any touchdowns. He was sacked four times, losing a total of 36 yards, which clearly impacted his performance.

The turning point seemed to come with around 11:30 left in the fourth quarter, when Rodgers experienced a fumble following a sack that sealed the Steel City’s fate. On a critical third-and-12 play, he stepped back to throw just as he was taken down by the Texans’ defense. The ball popped free, and Sheldon Rankins quickly capitalized, returning it for a 33-yard touchdown.

This play pushed the Texans ahead, giving them a 17-6 lead.

As the game wound down, Rodgers threw an interception, which was followed by Karen Brock scoring a 50-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 30-6

This could mark the final pass of Rodgers’ NFL career.

With the Steelers eliminated, attention now turns to Rodgers’ options for next season. The future Hall of Famer had previously hinted that this season might be his last, but it seems he is leaving the door open for a potential return to the NFL in 2026.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are considering the possibility of Rodgers coming back next season, but they hope to receive a decision sooner rather than later, unlike last offseason.

Rodgers has spoken positively about his time in Pittsburgh, mentioning earlier this month, “I enjoyed the experience and everyone at Pittsburgh has been great to me on and off the field.”
