Warren and Trump Discuss Economic Issues

Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts mentioned that President Donald Trump reached out to her on Monday following a speech where he criticized his own record on cost management and governance.

“This morning, I spoke out about how Donald Trump is raising costs for families, creating fear and chaos in our communities, and misusing his power to go after his opponents. I also argued that Democrats need to push back and come out on top,” Warren stated.

Warren spoke at an event held by the National Press Club and answered questions after her remarks.

Warren Warns of Democrats’ Future

“In my remarks, President Trump made it clear that, despite his promises to cut costs immediately, he has instead raised costs for families,” she observed.

After speaking at the event, Trump called her, and she added, “I told him that Congress could impose a cap on credit card interest rates if we really wanted to tackle the issue. I also encouraged House Republicans to support the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act to help increase housing availability and reduce expenses.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for further comments on Tuesday.

A White House representative shared that “President Trump and Senator Warren had a productive conversation on topics including credit card interest rates and housing affordability for Americans.”

Recently, in a post on Truth Social, Trump urged for credit card interest rates to be capped at 10% for a year. “Effective January 20, 2026, as President of the United States, I am calling for a one-year cap on credit card interest rates of 10%. This date also marks the first anniversary of my historically successful administration,” he declared.

Warren, during her comments at the National Press Club, indicated that the president has “credibility issues” and claimed he hasn’t implemented effective measures to actually lower housing costs for Americans.
