Snoop Dogg Shines at 2026 Golden Globe Awards

Snoop Dogg made quite the entrance at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, affirming his status in Hollywood despite some past controversies surrounding his performance at an event tied to President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The 54-year-old rapper, who has openly expressed admiration for Trump, was met with applause and cheers when he took the stage at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday night—surprisingly, no boos accompanied him.

As the first winner of the Best Podcast award, Snoop sat behind the microphone and let his classic track “Drop It Like It’s Hot” fill the room.

“Guys, I want you to relax a little bit. This is Double G, Double G, Golden Globes and you guys are with DO Double G,” he encouraged the audience. “So, make sure you enjoy yourself, don’t be no stiff biff! Move around a little bit!”

He went on to share that the Best Podcast category is particularly special to him, jokingly warning the podcasters in attendance, “You better hope I’m not in that game,” which elicited laughter and cheers from the crowd.

After joking around, he called for “Roll the tape!” and the highlight reel featuring the podcast nominees began.

Once the video concluded, Snoop expressed gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the Golden Globes for including a podcast section at this ceremony, and I would also like to thank all the podcasters.” Then, in a playful tone, he added, “Y’all had me here too damn long!”

Another star who was excited to see Snoop was Stephen Graham, who won for his role in “Adolescence.” He mentioned he was particularly impressed after meeting the hip-hop legend that evening, saying, “I met Snoop Dogg and shook his hand. He looked me straight in the eye… ‘You’re a mother gangster.'” Graham clearly felt that his night was made.

Social media buzzed with reactions to Snoop Dogg’s appearance, touting it as one of the standout moments of the evening. Many praised his unpredictable energy, humor, and candid remarks throughout the event.

Despite the controversies in his past—including backlash from some fans and critiques from the hip-hop community regarding his ties to Trump—Snoop’s presence at the Golden Globes highlighted his lasting influence in pop culture. Some had labeled him a “pop-up,” claiming he had strayed from his principles due to previous criticisms of the president.

He had previously mockingly depicted Trump in a music video and spoken harshly against him at several public events. Yet, in an unexpected turn of events as of January 2024, Snoop appeared to shift his perspective, stating, “Donald Trump?… He’s done nothing wrong to me. He’s done nothing but great things for me,” particularly citing the pardon of Michael Harris, a close associate from his past.

Recently, during public appearances, Snoop has addressed the backlash he faced after a performance at the Crypto Ball, stating that he doesn’t let negativity affect him as he sees value in the relationships and opportunities that arose from that experience.

Although he performed for Trump, he clarified that this didn’t equate to political endorsement, stating, “I don’t represent the Republican Party. I don’t represent the Democratic Party.” He views himself as a voice from the “Mother Gang Party era” rather than a typical politician.

Moreover, Snoop is gearing up for a new album, which he hinted might address some of the criticism he has faced. He believes that success and positivity are the best responses to hate, insisting that rising above negativity is the way forward.

Lastly, he acknowledged the increasing recognition of Latin artists in the music industry, emphasizing their contributions and the respect they deserve, which he feels has encountered delays until now.
