Rents Decrease for Americans Due to ICE Deportations

Data shared by the White House’s “Rapid Response 47” social media account indicates that ICE deportation efforts are contributing to lowering rents for Americans by increasing the number of deportations.

“Mass Deportation = Lower Housing Costs for Americans,” a recent tweet read, which pointed out:

Fact: In 14 of the 20 largest metropolitan areas with significant illegal immigrant populations, home prices dropped in December compared to the same month last year. Interestingly, the three areas that experienced minor price rises are designated as “sanctuary cities.”

Take San Antonio, for instance; rents decreased as construction companies anticipated a surge in immigration in 2025 by building more apartments.

On the flip side, rents in Seattle saw a slight increase. In this city, left-leaning officials have committed to safeguarding immigrants from law enforcement actions taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Seattle’s Mayor Katie Wilson proclaimed on January 8, “A message to my immigrant neighbors: This is your city. You should be safe here. I am determined to make that happen.”

“If you enforce stricter immigration policies, whether legal or illegal, housing costs are bound to decrease,” remarked Kevin Lin, the founder of US Tech Worker. He added, “It’s just basic supply and demand,” referring to his opposition to a visa program bringing around 2.5 million foreign workers into white-collar roles and apartments nationwide.

He further commented:

Here in Lancaster County, called America’s Refugee Capital by the BBC, I was walking along Prince Street and saw a nicely renovated small one-bedroom apartment advertising “The first three months [Rent] free!” This is the outcome when immigration is taken out of the equation.

Breitbart News has been monitoring how migration adversely affects housing prices and interest rates closely.

Housing and rent prices surged following former President Joe Biden’s acceptance of nearly 14 million legal and illegal immigrants. This influx correspondingly drove up costs for cars, gasoline, and auto insurance, exacerbating inflation.

In contrast, the decline in housing costs linked to Trump’s deportation efforts may assist him and his allies in countering the media’s exaggerated Democratic narratives about “affordability” leading up to 2026.

“Rents have decreased… [because] mass free immigration has boosted pricing, particularly for working Americans,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated in December.

“There’s a clear link between illegal immigration and rising housing expenses,” Vice President J.D. Vance observed in December.

“Prices are climbing and availability is constrained due to illegal immigration and people moving to our country,” Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner mentioned to Fox News in December.

Under Trump’s deportation policies, there are also reports of reduced crime and drug-related deaths.

Meanwhile, wages and economic productivity for Americans are on the rise, reigniting hope among younger generations of marriage, home ownership, and starting families.

Yet, Democrats are framing Trump’s presidency as “chaotic,” arguing that immigration surges and rising crime in places like Minnesota depict disorder.

Nevertheless, rents remain high in Minneapolis. Recent reports indicated a drop, with Yahoo Finance noting on December 30 that sales had decreased by nearly 1%. “Mild declines suggest a softening demand,” Yahoo reported.
