2028 Summer Olympics Ticket Lottery Details

LOS ANGELES — So, you’ve set your sights on attending the Olympic Games? Well, get ready to queue up.

Olympic enthusiasts will be among those first in line when the ticket lottery kicks off at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

However, there’s a bit of a catch. Those keen on avoiding inflated prices on the secondary market will need to be quick, patient, and a bit lucky.

Fans residing in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura counties will have a chance for a special pre-sale in April 2026. But remember, just entering the lottery doesn’t mean you’ll secure a seat.

To enter, you’ll need to register before March 18th. Once that’s done, your name will go into a random draw. Winners will then be assigned a time slot to buy tickets.

On the bright side, the starting price for approximately one million tickets will be just $28. “Every sport begins at $28, and it’s not just about a handful of tickets in a corner,” explained Allison Katz-Mayfield, the LA28 senior vice president of game distribution revenue. She emphasized that they’re looking at providing a significant number of tickets at this price, with about a third of the total tickets priced under $100.

Residents in Southern California are in for a treat, too. If you’re in any of the aforementioned counties, you’ll be eligible for a limited pre-sale—but you must enter a lottery to participate.

Bear in mind, the journey to secure tickets won’t be as straightforward as purchasing a lottery ticket. There are various challenges to consider.

If you miss your chance, lose your internet connection, or arrive late, you could find yourself without a ticket.

Even with perfect timing, it’s still possible that tickets could sell out before your opportunity arises, making it as tough to snag seats as it was for some to get tickets for a Taylor Swift concert.

General ticket sales will commence at the end of 2026, while tickets for the Paralympics will be available in 2027.
