Melissa Gilbert is standing by her husband, Timothy Busfield, after he surrendered to authorities in New Mexico on charges of child molestation.
Busfield, who is 61 and well-known for his role in “Little House on the Prairie,” is now facing legal troubles, and Gilbert is reportedly focusing on supporting him while also caring for her large family. The charges stem from alleged inappropriate sexual activity with 11-year-old twin boys during the filming of the 2024 movie “Cleaning Woman.”
At this moment, Gilbert isn’t making any public statements, as her representative shared with People magazine. They clarified that any online statements—including AI-generated deepfakes suggesting she had spoken out—should not be attributed to her. She is following her husband’s lawyers’ recommendation to stay silent while legal proceedings are underway.
The rep added that her priority is on supporting her family as they deal with this challenging situation and that Gilbert plans to address the public when the time is right. They requested respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
Busfield is recognized for his role as Danny Concannon on “The West Wing.” Recently, he was charged with two counts of criminal mischief against minors, along with child abuse, according to a warrant from the New Mexico State Police.
In a video directed at his attorney, Busfield denied the serious accusations, insisting he had “done nothing” inappropriate during his work on the project. “These terrible lies—they’re all lies,” he claimed. “I didn’t do anything to those little kids. I’m going to confront this.” He expressed confidence that he would be acquitted, stating, “I know this is all so wrong.”
On the alleged abuse, warrants indicate that he is accused of inappropriately touching one of the twins three to four times and the other five to six times. Court documents also mention that the alleged incidents began in 2022 when the boys were just seven years old.
