Illinois Surgeon Accused in Double Murder Case

A medical organization in Illinois is assisting authorities as they investigate the violent double murder involving one of their surgeons, accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife and the husband of a well-known Ohio dentist.

Michael David McKee, a 39-year-old vascular surgeon working for OSF St. Anthony in Rockford, is believed to have traveled over 300 miles to Ohio, where police allege he killed Spencer and Monique Tepe in their home on December 30.

“OSF is cooperating with law enforcement and providing any needed information,” a representative stated to the Post on Tuesday evening.

They added that all inquiries should go through the police.

It’s unclear if McKee is still employed there, as his medical profile hasn’t been disclosed on the organization’s website.

McKee, who graduated from Ohio State University, was arrested in Rockford on suspicion of murder related to the deaths of Spencer and Monique, who were married between 2015 and 2017.

The marriage to Monique, 39, ended amicably when she filed for divorce in 2017. She later married Spencer, 37, on December 13, 2020, and they had two young children together, according to an obituary for the couple.

The children, a four-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son, were unharmed when police found their parents’ bodies in the family’s upscale four-bedroom home.

Authorities believe the crime took place on the second floor of the home sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

No weapons were retrieved from the scene, and it appears there was no forced entry.

Surveillance footage captured a “person of interest” walking nearby around the time of the shootings.

Investigators tracked McKee by following the car that was seen in the vicinity and later located it 325 miles away in Rockford.

Authorities suspect the car belongs to McKee, who is licensed to practice medicine in both Illinois and California.

The motive behind this tragic incident remains unclear at this time.
