Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Announces New Market President
FARGO — Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) has revealed that Lacey Berg will take on the role of market president, pending the necessary regulatory approvals for a partnership with Cambia Health Solutions. This health plan serves over 380,000 members, according to a news release from BCBSND.
Berg will report to the BCBSND Board of Directors and will be accountable to Lindsay Harris, the Chief Commercial Officer at Cambia. Additionally, Dan Conrad, the current president and CEO, will transition to become Cambia’s chief administrative officer, as noted in the company’s announcement.
Last summer, BCBSND shared plans to partner with Cambia, based in Portland, Oregon. While policyholders are not expected to experience any changes from this arrangement, about 900 employees will shift to Cambia, stated company executives. Conrad emphasized that this partnership isn’t a merger or acquisition, saying, “A lot of what has been done so far will still be done locally. It will just be done by integrated teams.”
Berg brings a rich background in healthcare, clinical management, and business, having held various positions in patient care and leadership at MeritCare and Sanford Health, according to the release. Previously, she was the senior vice president of healthcare delivery at BCBSND.
The North Dakota Department of Insurance is set to hold a public hearing on January 20 to review this strategic partnership proposal. If regulatory approval is granted, changes to BCBSND’s senior leadership will occur:
- Dr. Greg Glassner will assume the role of executive medical director, reporting to Cambia’s chief medical officer.
- Stacey Heiden will become vice president of integration and lead partnership efforts.
- Cyndee Thormodson will be the Senior Vice President of Finance, accountable to Cambia’s CFO.
- Don Campbell will take on the role of Cambia’s senior vice president and deputy general counsel.
- Ryan Bembo will step in as vice president of marketing.
