Federal agents conducted a dramatic raid at actor Timothy Busfield’s home in upstate New York shortly after he surrendered to Albuquerque police on charges of child molestation.
A group of at least 10 federal marshals from the New York Regional Fugitive Task Force forced their way into Busfield’s mansion in Highland Lake, located about 20 minutes from Pennsylvania in the Catskill Mountains. Reports suggest they used a battering ram to break down the front door.
The officers, equipped with helmets, assault rifles, and riot gear, searched the premises for roughly 10 minutes but didn’t locate anyone. They subsequently moved to inspect a parked RV and a shed in the backyard.
Less than an hour after this raid in New York, Busfield’s wife, Melissa Gilbert, turned herself in to the police in Albuquerque. She faces accusations of engaging in sexual activities with twin boys aged 11 back in 2024 while she was directing the Fox series “Cleaning Women.”
Busfield refutes the allegations, asserting he “did nothing to those little boys” in a video message shared by his lawyer. “These are all lies. I haven’t done anything to those kids. I plan to fight this. I have a great team, and I will be exonerated because this is all wrong,” he stated.
The actor, known for his role in “Field of Dreams,” faces two counts of criminal conduct with a minor, one for each child, as indicated in a warrant issued by New Mexico State Police. Court documents reveal that the alleged misconduct began in 2022 when the boys were just 7 years old.
The investigation started in 2024 after a doctor reported suspicions of sexual abuse to the police following an examination of one of the children.
Busfield’s attorney, Larry Stein, suggested that the serious allegations stemmed from a desire for revenge. He claims the boys’ mother expressed a wish for payback after her sons were dropped from the final season of the show.
Representatives for Warner Bros., the production company behind “Cleaning Women,” informed police that a previous independent inquiry into the claims found no evidence supporting the accusations.
