OnlyFans Stars React to Controversial Florida Tax Proposal
There’s quite a stir in Florida following the announcement from gubernatorial candidate James Fishback, who’s proposing a hefty 50% “sin tax” on the incomes of OnlyFans creators. His intention? To “disincentivize and deter” the adult entertainment industry.
Fishback’s plan, which he calls a way to target both content creators and “online sick people” who consume such content, has raised eyebrows among those it impacts. He stated his views during a recent event, which seems to have captured people’s attention.
Top OnlyFans creator Sophie Lane, who has reportedly made around $95 million from her work on the platform between 2023 and 2025, openly criticized Fishback’s proposal. She described it as, quite frankly, “the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” and expressed confusion over how it could be deemed logical.
Lane, a Florida resident and co-founder of a well-known local complex that generates about $15 million monthly, emphasized that she already contributes millions in taxes and believes this proposal is misguided. She also expressed frustration over what she perceives as unwarranted judgment from Fishback regarding her career choices.
Even conservative voices within the OnlyFans community, like Anya Lacy who identifies as one of the top earners, chimed in. Lacy, who has her own firmly held beliefs, stated that Fishback’s comments crossed a line for her. “I was raised Christian and taught to love my neighbor,” she said, feeling that his words contradict those values.
Fishback, defending his proposal, suggested that Lane could be liable for as much as $42 million in taxes under his scheme. This pushback has not deterred Lacy, though, who feels the tax is absurd. She pointed out the irony of targeting OnlyFans while ignoring other vices traditionally labeled as sins, like alcohol and marijuana.
Lacy further mentioned that while she appreciates living in a tax-free environment, such a tax would force her to reconsider her residency in Florida entirely.
Despite being behind in the Republican primary polls, Fishback has estimated that the implementation of his tax would result in about $200 million coming from OnlyFans creators. He claims this would be used to enhance school lunches in the state, but many are questioning if this justification holds any weight.
So far, Fishback hasn’t commented on the widespread backlash against his tax proposal.
