Renee Good's ex-father-in-law states he does not hold ICE responsible for the deadly shooting.

Renee Good’s former stepfather, Timmy Macklin, stated on Tuesday that he doesn’t hold U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) responsible for her tragic shooting in Minneapolis last week. He characterized the situation as “tough overall” and mentioned that “some bad choices” might have been made.

Macklin remarked, “I don’t blame ICE. I don’t blame Renee, but I think if we had walked in the Spirit of God, she wouldn’t have been there.” Good was married to Macklin’s son, who passed away in 2023, and together they had a 6-year-old son.

Macklin remembered Good as a “wonderful person” who was “full of life” and a caring mother. He reflected, saying, “We’re making the wrong choice. That’s the problem. The whole world is very confused today. We need to turn to God and walk in His Spirit and let Him lead and guide us.”

When CNN’s Erin Burnett asked if he thought the shooting was justified, Macklin responded, “I’m not blaming anyone.” He noted that a witness had seen cellphone footage showing Good’s vehicle in contact with the ICE officer.

Macklin acknowledged the difficulty of reacting in such high-pressure moments, especially with reports suggesting the officer may have been involved in an earlier incident where he got dragged by a car. On Wednesday, Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), confirmed to Fox News that the ICE officer experienced internal bleeding after being struck by a vehicle.

Federal authorities claim that the agents acted in self-defense, labeling the occurrence as an act of domestic terrorism, although Democratic officials have disputed this self-defense narrative.
