Timothy Busfield Faces Serious Allegations
Actor Timothy Busfield was let go by his talent agency on the same day he made his first court appearance in a child sexual abuse case in New Mexico.
Innovative Artists, which operates in both Los Angeles and New York, a released the 68-year-old actor and director as of Wednesday. Reports indicate that the agency had provided a “substantial” team to support Busfield during his time there.
This comes after he faced disturbing allegations related to the sexual abuse of two boys while directing the Fox show “Cleaning Women.” The accusations date back to 2022 when the boys were just 7 years old, and they were made during the filming in New Mexico.
Busfield is accused of inappropriately touching one of the boys multiple times—three or four, apparently—and the other boy five to six times. This was according to an arrest warrant filed on Friday.
The investigation into these allegations commenced in 2024 after a doctor reported potential sexual abuse while examining a child at the University of New Mexico Hospital, as highlighted in the complaint.
Warner Bros., the producer behind “Cleaning Women,” communicated to law enforcement that a preliminary independent investigation found no evidence backing the allegations, according to the complaint.
After turning himself in to Albuquerque police, Busfield faced charges of two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse, which he has denied. His attorney, Larry Stein, stated that “Tim Busfield denies the allegations in the criminal complaint and claims they are completely false.”
Adding complexity to the situation, a third alleged victim, a 16-year-old girl from Sacramento, California, has accused Busfield of sexually abusing her “several years ago,” detailed in a complaint filed on January 14 by prosecutors in Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
The girl’s father reported the incident to law enforcement just a day before, with claims that during an audition at the B Street Theater, Busfield kissed his daughter and then touched her inappropriately.
Interestingly, Busfield founded the B Street Theater, which debuted in 1986 as a venue for children’s theater in Sacramento.
Concerning the reported incident, it was noted that the directing staff encouraged the family not to report it to authorities if they sought treatment. The father recalled that they believed it was “the best thing to do” at the time.
Busfield was denied bail and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque.
