On Sunday, patrons at a restaurant in Minnesota verbally attacked federal law enforcement officials, amidst rising tensions following the fatal shooting of a woman by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the area.
This incident took place at Cancun Mexican Grill and Cantina in St. Paul, where employees found themselves confronting angry customers, as reported by Fox News on Wednesday.
During the chaos, someone yelled, “Take off your mask!” It has been suggested that the officers involved were ICE agents.
The agents eventually returned to the entrance amid the uproar.
“Federal immigration officers can enter public businesses without authorization, but they need a warrant or permit to go into private areas like kitchens or employee-only hallways,” the report stated.
This confrontation followed the tragic shooting of a woman named Renee Good in Minneapolis on January 7th. Reports indicate that she was shot while a group attempted to stop ICE operations.
Interestingly, the agent involved in the shooting reportedly sustained internal injuries during the incident.
Additionally, various videos show left-wing activists escalating the situation around ICE agents in a region that’s faced criticism for alleged misconduct involving Minnesota’s Somali community.
On Sunday, it was reported that “President Trump’s agents are deploying hundreds of additional personnel to Minneapolis to support a federal inquiry into the Democratic Party’s operations related to immigration in Minnesota.”
In footage shared, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) addressed a crowd of anti-ICE demonstrators, stating, “We’ll show them the door, and they will be held accountable for what they’ve done to us.”
Further videos depict protesters blocking traffic in Minneapolis, chanting “Iced Out!” in St. Cloud.
Despite ongoing protests, ICE agents are still carrying out arrests of individuals involved in serious crimes in Minnesota, with the Trump administration focusing on safeguarding communities against such offenses nationwide.
It’s also noteworthy that left-wing organizations organized protests swiftly in response to Good’s death, as highlighted by Brandi Shufuczynski, who oversees education and national security for a defense organization.
