Madonna Voices Support for Iranian Protesters
Pop icon Madonna made a statement on social media recently, highlighting her solidarity with protesters in Iran and expressing gratitude for the freedoms she enjoys as an American.
In her Instagram post, she reflected on a family trip to Morocco, suggesting that Americans often overlook the freedoms they possess. She mentioned wanting those same freedoms for the people in Iran.
“Thinking back on my vacation in Morocco, I can’t help but think of the brave individuals in Iran who are risking everything for their beliefs,” she shared. “We tend to take many things for granted, myself included,” she added.
She continued, emphasizing essential liberties: “The freedom to travel. To wear what you wish. To traverse the desert on horseback. Speaking out without fear of punishment, torture, or even death. Women in Iran lack these rights. I stand with them.”
Madonna concluded by passionately declaring, “Liberate Iran!”
She expressed her thoughts for the Iranian people, saying, “They have not experienced freedom for centuries. I can’t truly understand their suffering, but my prayers are with them. The time to support them is now. Stay strong! We need to hear their voices. Let Iran be free!”
This sentiment is particularly notable, considering that only a few high-profile celebrities have spoken out about the ongoing unrest.
Madonna stands among a limited number of stars voicing support for the protesters, many of whom have tragically lost their lives during the protests.
Reports indicate that, as communication lines within Iran have been restored, sources suggest that the death toll could be as high as 20,000.
British musician Yungblud has also shown his support for those protesting in Iran.
