Renee Good's ex-father-in-law urges calm following anti-ICE protests

Following the death of Renee Nicole Good, her former father-in-law, Tim Macklin Sr., is calling for anti-ICE activists to focus on prayer rather than anger. Macklin, whose son was once married to Good, stated that he doesn’t hold anyone accountable for the shooting, attributing the tragedy to a series of “bad choices.”

He expressed that this incident highlights a larger moral decay and emphasized the need for people to return to their faith. “I’m not accountable to anyone. I want to be a peacemaker,” he shared during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

Macklin also mentioned that he views the situation as more of a spiritual battle than a political one. Activists have been using Good’s death as a reason to continue demonstrations against law enforcement in Minneapolis, which began after she was shot on January 7 during a confrontation with federal agents.

The Department of Homeland Security defended its agents, claiming Good attempted to “weaponize his vehicle” against them. However, Minnesota officials have countered that assertion, launching their investigation separate from the federal one.

Macklin, who has seen video of the incident, reiterated his stance of not blaming the agents, explaining that in fast-moving situations, it’s tough to predict reactions. He stated, “no one knows who is going to do what,” highlighting the chaos of the moment.

He lamented that “this country is spiraling out of control,” and warned, “Unless people turn to God or repent, it will keep getting worse.” As tensions grow, President Trump signaled that he might invoke the Insurrection Act, which would allow military intervention to enforce federal law. In response, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urged the president to take a different approach, calling on residents to speak out peacefully without adding to the chaos. “This is a scary thing. We must speak loudly, urgently, but peacefully,” he wrote.
