Broncos quarterback Bo Nix hurt, will not play in AFC title game

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix will not be playing for the rest of the NFL playoffs due to an ankle injury he sustained during Saturday’s 33-30 victory against the Buffalo Bills. After the game, Broncos head coach Sean Payton shared the news with reporters.

“It’s unfortunate. On the second-to-last play of overtime, Bo broke his right ankle. He is set for surgery on Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the season,” Payton mentioned.

If it’s the play he’s referencing, it appears to be when the Broncos took a knee right before the game-winning field goal. The play prior involved Nix throwing an incompletion, which led to a 30-yard pass interference call on Buffalo, putting the team in field goal range.

Nix managed to complete 26 out of 46 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 29 yards on 12 carries during the game.

Looking ahead, Payton indicated that backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham will be starting next week’s AFC Championship Game against the winner of the divisional game between the Patriots and Texans.

“[Stidham] is ready,” Payton said. “I’m prepared for what’s next.”
