Josh Hart misses game due to ankle pain in Knicks' recent injury concern

Knicks Struggle with Ankle Injuries

Jalen Brunson’s right ankle is causing some issues for the Knicks. It seems Saturday’s game arrived a bit too early for him, and now Josh Hart is sidelined as well.

Brunson missed his second consecutive game due to a sprained right ankle during the 106-99 defeat against the Suns at Madison Square Garden. Surprisingly, he had been labeled as questionable before the game.

Hart joined him on the bench, dealing with soreness in his right ankle.

Coach Mike Brown commented on Hart’s situation, saying, “He’s just hurt a little bit. So we’re going to be cautious, especially during this time.” It makes sense; injuries can be tricky.

Miles McBride and Mohamed Diawara started in place of Hart.

Brunson initially sprained his ankle in Wednesday’s game against the Kings in Sacramento. Reports indicated it was a minor sprain, but there’s a bit of concern since it’s the second time he’s dealt with this issue this year; he missed two games earlier for the same reason.

Hart has had his own battles; he missed eight games earlier this season due to another sprained ankle but did manage to return for three games before Saturday, playing without any restrictions. He even logged 37 minutes in a loss to the Warriors earlier this week.

Both players are vital for the team, and their absence is certainly being felt. The Knicks haven’t looked their best since November 22, when Landry Shamet suffered a shoulder injury in a loss to the Magic. He made his return on Thursday, with Saturday marking his second game back.

Meanwhile, Tyler Kolek is having a rough stretch. He came off the bench on Saturday but ended up with a game-worst minus-17 rating in just 17 minutes, scoring only two points on 1-of-3 shooting. His performance was marred by three turnovers and just one assist.

In a lighter moment, several MSG alumni celebrated during the Knicks’ homecoming game. Fans had the chance to collect autographs and snap photos, which is always a nice touch. Notably, some alumni even rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange earlier that day.

“Good night to the Garden. It’s reunion night,” Coach Brown reflected. “It’s a good night to honor those who came before us, as they laid the foundation and made this building iconic and made the Knicks what they are today.”
