Protesters against ICE take over Target store in Minneapolis over immigration actions

On Monday, protesters opposed to ICE staged a sit-in at a Target store in Minnesota, urging the retailer to take a stand against federal immigration authorities. The demonstrators claimed that Target was allowing ICE agents to operate from its parking lot.

One protester at the St. Paul store held a sign reading “Abolish ICE” and mentioned that the parking area had become a common spot for ICE agents to gather. “They’re even using the restrooms here, making it easier for them to infiltrate our community,” he said.

Another participant criticized Target for contributing to “ethnic cleansing” and expressed concern for families, particularly young children at risk of losing their parents. “We don’t just want your little baby clothes. We want families safe,” she added.

Protesters were seen in the store’s center, chanting and demanding improved conditions for immigrants, alongside calls for fair treatment and equal opportunities.

The group insisted on the abolition of ICE, especially as the Trump administration ramped up arrests of undocumented immigrants in the Minneapolis area. They ended the protest by chanting that they would return again.

Notably, a video showed protestors interrupting an ICE operation aimed at suspected child sex offenders, where federal agents faced honking cars during the arrest. One agent commented on the chaos, remarking that they were trying to carry out their duties while the disturbance was happening.
