Trump to Address Globalists at World Economic Forum
US President Donald Trump is set to speak at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday. His address will touch on Greenland’s future and outline his broader geopolitical plans.
Reports indicate that Trump may take a strong stance during this gathering, potentially challenging the transatlantic alliance as he discusses the possibility of acquiring the Danish territory of Greenland.
In response, European nations are considering countermeasures after Trump threatened tariffs on eight European countries related to the Greenland situation. However, the US government has advised that retaliatory taxes aimed at asserting control over the Arctic are “unwise.”
While Trump hasn’t arrived at the WEF yet, he has already hinted at his agenda through posts on Truth Social. He mentioned having a “very good” meeting with NATO’s chief, Mark Rutte, regarding Greenland.
He shared in a post on Monday, “We have agreed to a party meeting in Davos, Switzerland.”
The US president expressed to reporters that he doesn’t believe European leaders will strongly oppose efforts to acquire the strategically important island, stating, “They cannot protect it.”
Trump’s agenda at the WEF is also expected to include discussions on US engagements with Venezuela, Gaza, Ukraine, and Iran.
One significant initiative he’s pushing is an International Peace Commission, aimed at overseeing the reconstruction of Gaza, which seeks $1 billion from states as contributions to gain a voice in the peace process.
To reinforce its position, the US will be sending a notably large delegation to Davos, aiming to make an impression among global leaders.
Last year, Trump addressed a rally remotely but created buzz even before speaking.
In light of these developments, European Union leaders plan to hold an emergency meeting in Brussels on Thursday to deliberate on their strategy in response to the Greenland crisis—a serious challenge to transatlantic relations.
