President Trump Wins in First Year Despite Opposition from Democrats
President Donald Trump shared some private text exchanges with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on social media, claiming they supported his views. He stated that their messages confirmed his points, with Macron discussing various global issues like Syria, Gaza, and Ukraine.
Trump explained in an interview that the interactions were positive. Macron had suggested a meeting in Paris after the World Economic Forum in Davos and offered to have dinner together. However, a White House official indicated that Trump currently doesn’t plan to visit Paris.
In the exchanges, Rutte expressed his dedication to resolving matters concerning Greenland amidst Trump’s previous comments about potentially annexing the territory. Interestingly, both texts began with friendly terms like “My friend” and “Dear Donald.”
As Trump heads to the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, his administration is preparing for a signing ceremony related to the Gaza Peace Commission, although the participation of other countries remains uncertain, particularly given the significant financial commitment involved for its permanent board.
When asked about Macron’s reluctance to accept an invitation, Trump responded casually, suggesting it was understandable since Macron would soon be leaving office and, in a rather blunt tone, that he might not be in high demand.
In a somewhat offbeat remark, he quipped about tariffs on French wine and champagne, hinting that if there were any real hostility, such measures might be on the table, though he acknowledged Macron’s right to opt out of the situation entirely.
