Lululemon Halts Online Sales of New Workout Line Amid Complaints

Lululemon Athletica announced on Tuesday that it has temporarily stopped online sales of its latest workout collection, Get Low, in response to customer feedback.

A spokesperson for Lululemon explained, “While this collection is still available in our North American retail stores, we’ve paused online sales to really grasp initial customer reactions and to enhance product education.” They added that the goal is to reintroduce the collection to their online platforms soon.

On social media, some users, especially on platforms like reddit, voiced concerns that the new leggings were “see-through” when squatting or bending. It seems accessing the product on the website was problematic for many customers, with error messages popping up saying, “Something went wrong.”

Morningstar analyst David Swartz remarked that the company has been facing development issues for a while now, which the new CEO will likely need to resolve promptly.

This sales pause occurs as Lululemon is navigating through several hurdles. Notably, founder Chip Wilson recently initiated a proxy fight and added three independent directors to the board. Additionally, the company is feeling the pressure from Elliott Management, which invested about $1 billion last December and is exploring options for a new CEO, possibly Jane Nielsen, formerly of Ralph Lauren.

In the midst of these challenges, Lululemon’s stock dipped about 5% during afternoon trading as the overall market experienced a decline.

Ironically, despite the current issues, the Vancouver-based brand projected last week that its sales and profits for the fourth quarter will likely approach the higher end of their previous estimates, thanks to robust demand throughout the holiday season.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Lululemon has faced criticism over a product. Back in 2024, they had to withdraw their “Breath Through” leggings shortly after launch due to complaints regarding the fit, material, and seams, resulting in a slowdown of new offerings in women’s leggings.
