Buc-ee’s Plans to Open World’s Largest Convenience Store
Buc-ee’s, known for its massive travel centers and loyal fanbase, is gearing up to unveil the largest convenience store worldwide next year.
As reported by Sebastian Daily, this new facility will cover 76,245 square feet in Fort Pierce, Florida. After obtaining state approval in April, Buc-ee’s submitted an updated site plan and building permit to St. Lucie County in November. Yet, it’s important to note that final approval is still awaited.
Efforts to get in touch with Buc-ee’s for a comment are ongoing.
If all goes as planned, the colossal convenience store will be strategically situated at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Indrio Road, northwest of Fort Pierce and southwest of Vero Beach. It will include 120 gas pumps and 18 electric vehicle charging stations, according to the report.
plus, the store will offer over 700 parking spaces. Quite the setup!
When it opens, it will surpass the existing store in Luling, Texas, which is currently the largest at 75,593 square feet of retail space.
The anticipated grand opening is set for June 2024, marking it as the biggest Buc-ee’s to date. Before this development, the title was held by a 74,000-square-foot store in Tennessee.
Diving into some background, Buc-ee’s first started in Texas back in the 1980s and has always stood out for the sheer size of its stores. For context, 7-Eleven outlets typically span only 2,500 to 3,000 square feet, while Wawa and Sheetz locations are around 5,000 to 6,500 square feet.
Buc-ee’s is increasingly expanding its footprint beyond Texas. The upcoming Fort Pierce location will mark its fourth store in Florida, joining existing ones in St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, and Ocala, as noted by Sebastian Daily.
