Brian Daboll’s Coaching Prospects
Brian Daboll is presented with several options moving forward.
As his past achievements gain attention, reports indicate that he might have new opportunities ahead, especially with team interest growing, according to sources. Should the situation with the Bills not materialize, he could find himself on the coaching staff of new Titans’ head coach Robert Saleh.
Interestingly, Daboll was already in talks for the Tennessee coaching position prior to the announcement of Saleh’s hiring. He is also set to discuss potential roles with the Bills following the recent firing of long-time coach Sean McDermott.
Before his tenure as the Giants’ head coach began in 2022, Daboll spent four seasons under McDermott as the offensive coordinator for the Bills.
Unfortunately, he was let go by the Giants in November, right in the middle of his fourth season.
Aside from the head coaching searches, Daboll has also surfaced as a strong candidate for offensive coordinator roles this season. There’s even chatter about him starting with the Eagles, who aren’t exactly the Giants’ favorite team.
The Eagles recently parted ways with Kevin Pattullo, who faced criticism throughout the season, particularly regarding his decision-making in critical moments.
Reports suggest that the Eagles are actively seeking a new offensive coordinator with Daboll’s name being a focal point, especially if he doesn’t land the head coach position with the Bills.
Shifting to Tennessee could become a natural next step for Daboll, especially given his previous coaching connection with Saleh during their time in New York, where Saleh took on the Jets’ head coaching role in 2021.
For added context, the Titans have been among the ten teams in coaching transitions this offseason and boast last year’s top draft pick, Cam Ward.
This season, Ward, the rookie quarterback, recorded 15 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and completed nearly 60% of his passes over 17 games. Unfortunately, the Titans finished with a 3-14 record and currently hold the No. 4 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
