Recent reports indicate that a conflict involving Karamo Brown and his Queer Eye co-stars originated from an incident where his mother overheard the group making negative comments about him during a hot mic moment.
This event took place last summer while the Fab Five were filming season 10 in Washington, D.C. Karamo had his mother, Charmaine Brown, on set that day. According to sources, she was given headphones to closely monitor production.
During the filming, Charmaine allegedly heard co-stars Antoni Porowski, Tan France, and Jonathan Van Ness discussing Karamo’s choices in a derogatory manner once he had stepped away from the group. After relaying this to her son, Karamo decided to cut ties with those co-stars. The only former cast member he seems to maintain a connection with is Jeremiah Brent, whom Karamo still follows on Instagram.
Insiders reported that after the incident, Karamo felt compelled to separate himself from most of his co-stars. Representatives for Karamo and the others didn’t immediately respond to requests for comments.
Until now, rumors about a feud circulated, especially after Karamo canceled his scheduled appearance on CBS Mornings just before they were set to go on air. He expressed concerns about potential bullying in a letter read by co-host Gayle King during the broadcast.
In her statement, King highlighted the importance of mental health and well-being, noting that it should be safeguarded from negativity. Porowski, who reacted with surprise to Karamo’s letter, acknowledged that their dynamic was complicated, especially given their shared history of nearly a decade of working together.
Van Ness also expressed that families, including their Queer Eye family, encounter complexities, emphasizing that while conflicts can exist, they still aim to celebrate the positive stories that emerged during their time together.
