Al Gore confronts Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick following Trump's official speech at Davos

Al Gore Critiques Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick at Davos

Former Vice President Al Gore expressed criticism towards Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick following a controversial speech during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Sources revealed that Gore made a brief remark of disapproval as Lutnick stepped off stage after addressing attendees at a high-profile dinner hosted by billionaire Larry Fink.

“I’m really excited about this,” Lutnick said, referring to his speech, which harshly criticized European allies. A number of attendees reportedly reacted negatively, booing him amid the remarks.

When Lutnick finished, Gore approached him and said “boo,” seemingly attempting to convey his displeasure. One attendee remarked humorously, “It’s an honor to have Al Gore boo you,” as Lutnick laughed it off.

Gore didn’t shy away from detailing his reaction. In a statement, he noted, “I listened to what he had to say. I never interrupted him. It’s well-known how I feel about this administration’s energy policy, which I think is downright insane.” He added that, at the end of the speech, his response reflected not only his own feelings but also those of others in attendance.

Many present, including European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, were so put off that they left the dinner before dessert, as tensions mounted. Reports indicated that Fink attempted to calm the crowd as they hastily exited the event.

In his previous day’s remarks published in the Financial Times, Lutnick asserted, “We came to Davos to make one thing clear: With President Trump, capitalism has a new sheriff in town,” suggesting that the global influence dynamics were shifting.

The Commerce Department has not yet responded to requests for comments on this incident.
