Whoopi Goldberg Warns About Trump’s Greenland Ambitions

During a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg raised concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s interest in acquiring Greenland, a territory owned by Denmark. She suggested that if Trump can pursue such a move, it might signal that no country is secure from the ambitions of powerful leaders.

Co-host Sarah Haines chimed in, expressing her belief that Trump might actually succeed in acquiring Greenland, while Sunny Hostin strongly countered, exclaiming, “Greenland is not for sale!” Goldberg interjected her warning, saying, “Listen, if they allow this to happen, no country on this planet will be safe.”

The White House hasn’t offered any comments on the matter. Trump has framed the potential acquisition as a national security issue, intending to keep both Russia and China in check as climate change alters Arctic shipping routes—a notion that NATO allies have dismissed.

While speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump claimed that the U.S. is uniquely positioned to secure and manage Greenland:

“We have never asked for anything,” he stated about U.S.-NATO cooperation, adding, “And we didn’t get anything. Frankly, we probably won’t get anything unless we decide to use excessive force and force that we can’t stop. But I’m not going to do that. OK, come on, guys say, ‘Oh, great.'” He emphasized he had no intention of using force.

Hostin voiced her fear that the NATO alliance is in jeopardy, highlighting a divide where allies are starting to express concerns. “China is on this side and Russia is on this side,” she observed, adding that middle-tier countries might lean toward aligning with China. This shift, according to her, could reshape global power dynamics in a concerning way.

Haines defended NATO’s strength, declaring that if the alliance were to break apart, it would leave the West vulnerable to Russia and China. She speculated that Trump’s reassurances of not using force might be part of a negotiation strategy, suggesting that, “I absolutely think that Donald Trump has withdrawn from the military because he thinks he might get Greenland.” She remarked, “You start with an unreasonable request and then come back with a more reasonable request.”
