Chris Noth has opened up about the end of his friendship with Sarah Jessica Parker, attributing it to her reaction to sexual assault allegations made against him in 2021.
In an episode of the podcast “Kara Mayer Robinson is really famous,” the 71-year-old actor noted that Parker did not reach out to him before she publicly expressed support for his accusers through a statement. Noth faced allegations from three women that year, which he has consistently denied.
Parker, along with fellow “Sex and the City” stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, issued a statement at the time expressing their sadness over the allegations and their support for the women involved. Noth described her response as “disappointing” and stated that it made it clear their friendship had ended.
“The statement they put out was really nothing more than brand management,” Noth remarked. “I found it sad and surprising. You’ve known me for years; you could have called and asked for my side.” He expressed regret that this did not happen.
Noth returned to the franchise for the sequel series “And Just Like That” in 2021 but saw his character, Mr. Big, killed off shortly after. He reflected on the situation, emphasizing that if the roles were reversed, he would have reached out to Parker first.
“It hurt and it really affected everything,” he added. While Parker hasn’t commented on Noth’s remarks, she did not immediately respond to requests for a statement.
Recently, Noth stirred up reactions among “SATC” fans when he made a social media post that some perceived as a jab at Parker following her recognition with the Carol Burnett Award. Although he later insisted his comment was meant to be sarcastic, he acknowledged the uproar it caused, describing it as a “slightly sarcastic response” to an online comment.
In other revelations, Noth has reiterated his denial of the sexual assault allegations but has admitted to infidelity in his marriage to Tara Wilson. The couple, married since 2012, share two sons. He remarked that while he acknowledged cheating, he insisted all sexual contact outside of marriage was consensual.
