Trump Administration’s CBP Home App Program Update

As the Trump administration marks its first year in office, an important announcement was made regarding the CBP Home App program aimed at maintaining high deportation numbers.

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed plans to enhance benefits for unauthorized immigrants opting for self-deportation. This announcement, issued via a press release, outlines an increase in the financial incentive provided to illegal aliens for voluntarily leaving the country.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated, “Illegal aliens should take advantage of this opportunity and return to their home countries, or else we will find and arrest them.”

The incentive is set to rise from $1,000 to $2,600. Moreover, the proposal includes waivers for associated ticket costs and civil penalties for those who do not comply with deportation orders.

“Since January 2025, approximately 2.2 million unauthorized immigrants have left voluntarily, and many have utilized the CBP Home program. To celebrate the first anniversary of this administration, we are increasing the departure bonus to $2,600,” Noem added.

DHS also indicated that the cost of deportation exceeds $18,000, but this new plan would reduce the financial burden on U.S. taxpayers to around $5,000 for voluntary deportations.

According to the department, the initial year of the Trump administration accounted for over 675,000 deportations; however, obtaining a detailed breakdown of this data has proven challenging.

“Unauthorized immigrants who fail to seize this special offer face arrest and permanent deportation,” DHS warned. “The sensible choice is to begin planning your return home right away through the CBP Home App.”
