SpaceX enlists four banks to guide its large IPO, according to reports.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Plans Historic IPO

SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, is reportedly working with four major banks for what could become the largest initial public offering (IPO) ever. The banks involved include Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Morgan Stanley, all of which are set to have influential roles in the process, according to sources familiar with the situation. Interestingly, there may be other unnamed financial institutions participating as well.

Recent reports suggest that SpaceX executives have increased their discussions with potential banking partners in the last few days. The goal? To take the company public sometime this year, if all goes according to plan.

It’s a bold move considering SpaceX’s valuation, estimated to be around $1.5 trillion. They aim to raise over $30 billion from investors. If that figure stands, Musk could see his net worth soar well past $1 trillion, which is, I mean, that’s really something, isn’t it?

In December, Brett Johnsen, SpaceX’s CFO, confirmed to employees that while a public offering could occur as soon as 2026, the timing remains highly uncertain. He expressed optimism, stating that if they execute their plans effectively and the market responds positively, a significant amount of capital could be raised through the IPO.

Additionally, he noted that the company is also pursuing a separate secondary stock sale, which could position SpaceX with a pre-IPO valuation of around $800 billion. If that happens, SpaceX would clinch the title of the most valuable private company in the world, which is quite impressive.

As they forge ahead, SpaceX is likely eyeing funding to support several ambitious projects, like returning to the moon, creating a colony on Mars, and even setting up an AI data center in orbit. There’s a lot at stake—and a lot of excitement as we wait to see how this unfolds.
